Emergency Department Review - background and purpose

The UK Emergency Department's have changed significantly over the past 10 years, with the introduction of the four hour target, and an ever increasing attendance rate.  With increasing numbers of patients and ever increasing demands on limited resources, sharing good practice, ideas and ways of of working has become ever more essential.

This blog aims to share good practice and issues as they develop in the Emergency Department setting.  It does not have a political affiliation, or pretend to have all the answers, but aims to share as much as possible.  Not everything can be published in peer reviewed journals, and members of staff do not always have time to write up new practice ideas to that level of publication.  The professional journals such as Emergency Medicine Journal and Emergency Nurse Journal are excellent resources for staff in the UK, but not everything is always included in them, this blog aims to fill that small space.

All feedback is welcomed, from patients and staff from within this area of practice.
